Gallery Climate Coalition

An initiative to tackle the art world's collective environmental impact

“The Earth is What We All Have in Common.” Wendell Berry

As the world is forced to slow down amidst the pandemic, the art industry has continued guessing whilst taking risks, with fairs cancelled and exhibitions partially open, the industry wonders of what will become of art fairs world-wide?

The time has given way for solutions in the art world, and recently launched the 'Gallery Climate Coalition' is an initiative set up by Artlogic and leading galleries including Kate McGarry, Lisson Gallery, Sadie Coles and Thomas Dane to tackle the large carbon footprint our industry has.

The Coalition is a not for profit initiative that is aimed at equipping the art industry with tools and resources to guide them and collectively reduce the carbon footprint by 50% over the next ten years, in line with the Paris agreement, and promote zero-waste activities in the industry.

Informality is passionate about a sustainable future and encourages galleries to become a member and have a look at the resources available on GCC’s website.
