Shallow Lands: Forest and Found
Informality is thrilled to open ‘Shallow Lands’, the gallery’s first solo exhibition with studio practice Forest and Found comprising of Max Bainbridge and Abigail Booth.
'Shallow Lands’ presents a new body of work created over the past year. Both artists look beneath the surface of our natural landscapes to find metaphorical spaces within. In the exhibition, Bainbridge peels apart our conception of trees as a symbol of strength by revealing the nuanced, fragile interior of these complex living organisms, while Booth draws on a hidden language of colour, locked within nature, as she delves into the permeable and psychological underbelly of ancient chalk formations beneath our feet.
Shallow Lands is an exhibition that draws parallels between these hidden worlds and in doing so can expose existing narratives within nature for our future.
